Dr Candice Houda

Candice is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist specialising in advanced laparoscopic surgery and pelvic floor dysfunction. As one of the few Adelaide-based surgeons to have completed a fellowship in minimally invasive gynaecology through the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery (AGES) Society, Candice believes in partnering with and empowering women to live fulfilling and rewarding lives.

Candice manages all general obstetric and gynaecology conditions and has specific expertise in:

  • Pelvic floor dysfunction in pregnancy
  • Complex minimally invasive hysterectomy
  • Pelvic organ prolapse and vaginal heaviness
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Advanced laparoscopic surgery involving treatment of fibroids, prolapse, incontinence, ovarian cysts, adhesions and endometriosis
  • Overactive pelvic floor and its impact on the bladder, bowel, sexuality and pelvic pain
  • Complex hysteroscopy, including resection of fibroids and polyps
  • Colposcopy

Candice trained across all tertiary centres in South Australia and completed a Masters of Reproductive Medicine through the University of NSW. She is involved in minimally invasive gynaecology research and frequently presents at conferences.

Candice is actively involved as a leader and teacher in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery. She is a member of the RANZCOG SA/NT State Committee and a staff specialist at the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network.

As a mentor, friend, daughter, sister and mother of two girls Candice understands the unique challenges facing women. She believes in assisting women to fulfil their potential across all aspects of their lives – physical and mental health, relationships, sexuality, fertility, fitness, career, friendships and family.  She enjoys nothing more than working with women to achieve their goals and optimise their well-being.

Having grown up on the beaches in southern Sydney, Candice has an affection for the water and outdoors, which has not been diminished by Adelaide’s cold ocean temperatures. When not at Adelaide Obstetrics, you can also find Candice at a HIIT class, walking the family’s giant Groodle George, or tending to the family veggie garden while judiciously keeping tiny fingers away from the unripe fruits of her labour.

Whilst Candice believes she has the best job in the world, she nevertheless continues to pursue her other passion, spending countless hours attempting to imitate the baked delicacies of her favourite celebrity chef, Donna Hay. Luckily, this benefits friends and family alike.
