Delivering your baby
When it’s time to deliver your baby, you’re in safe hands. Your Adelaide Obstetrics & Fertility obstetrician will keep you fully informed throughout your delivery, while our caring staff will make sure you are comfortable and have access to all the support you need.
Ashford Hospital
Adelaide Obstetrics & Fertility delivers babies exclusively at Ashford Hospital. With well-appointed private delivery suites and access to the highest level of nursery care provided by a private hospital, Ashford Hospital is a centre for clinical excellence and a great place to have your baby.
Preparation
When your baby’s on its way, we have a basic list of what you should bring to hospital to make your stay as comfortable and organised as possible. We can also help you prepare a birthing plan, and will do our best to help you achieve the birthing experience you prefer.
Labour
When your baby’s on the way, Adelaide Obstetrics & Fertility’s obstetricians, midwifes and nurses are here to help. We will monitor your health and the health of your baby and keep you fully informed throughout your labour.
Managing pain
In the last few weeks of your pregnancy, we will talk you through your many options for pain relief, including entonox (gas and air), pethidine, epidural, TENS and more—or even none, if you prefer.
Hypnotherapy
In partnership with Dr Celia Whittle, Adelaide Obstetrics & Fertility offers hypnotherapy (or hypnobirthing) sessions that are designed to help reduce many of the anxieties that can develop around pregnancy and giving birth.
Vaginal delivery
Adelaide Obstetrics & Fertility’s obstetricians, midwifes and nurses will support you through the three stages of labour and help maximise the positive experience of childbirth without compromising the safety of you or your baby.
Caesarean delivery
Whether you elect to have a caesarean delivery, or circumstances arise that require a caesarean delivery, your Adelaide Obstetrics & Fertility obstetrician will talk you through the procedure and safely deliver your baby.
Nursery care
We deliver at Ashford Hospital because they provide the best standard of care for you and your baby in a private hospital, and are the only private hospital in South Australia that can care for babies delivered as early as 32 weeks.
Lactation support
Adelaide Obstetrics & Fertility supports your choice to breastfeed your baby, and has a qualified lactation consultant who can visit you in hospital and at home to help you get started.
