Breastfeeding is a new skill for you and your baby, and like all new skills, it can take some time and practise to learn. It has many benefits for both you and your baby.
We respect your right to choose whether you breastfeed or not, but if you’re not sure, there are experts on hand who can help.
Lactation consultants are available for you on the Ashford Hospital Postnatal Ward to help get you started. The Ashford Hospital New Born support service is also available for when you leave hospital. Individual consultations are also available with the lactation consultants to support the establishment of breastfeeding.

In addition to the wonderful support Ashford offers, Adelaide Obstetrics & Fertility have an inhouse lactation consultant who will arrange a postnatal appointment.
