Adelaide Obstetrics now offers an inhouse lactation consultant!
We are pleased to announce that Donna Mansell is joining the team as a Private Midwife.
She is able to provide education and support during your pregnancy as well as personalised postnatal care either at home or here in the clinic.
She has a wealth of experience not only in pregnancy care but as a certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Eligible Midwife (meaning she can order tests and prescribe medication).
All visits are eligible for a Medicare rebate and in some cases your private health extras cover as well.
Pregnancy
You will be offered an education appointment around 36 weeks.
This is around 60-90 minutes and can cover breastfeeding education, sibling adjustment, pregnancy anxieties and many more topics.
It is a time to sit down and review what you want and where you feel more knowledge would be helpful. At this visit your blood pressure and baby’s heart beat are also checked.
You can also get a fantastic breastfeeding starter pack at this appointment for a small price. Medicare will cover majority of the fee of this visit.
Postnatal
After you leave the hospital Donna can visit you at home or in the clinic for the first 6 weeks.
These visits can be weekly or as often as needed. These visits provide assistance with feeding problems, baby review including weight check and a postnatal mother check.
Donna is also available to answer any questions in between appointments via her mobile.
Medicare covers the postnatal visits and in some cases your private health extras may contribute however here will be a gap.
